Below we have detailed some ideas to promote a Pub with Euro 2020. Hopefully, with the Finals and England playing at Wembley, it should be an excellent opportunity to get people back in the pub and spending some money.
This year’s Euro’s also include Wales and Scotland, so there’s an opportunity to have some packed days and nights. Read below 11 Advertising and Marketing Ideas for 2021. Summers coming so don’t miss out.
1) Get social….and quick! – Marketing Ideas For A Pub
If you want people to know you’re showing the matches in your pub, you need to get advertising your pub Social Media…and now, if you don’t know much about Social Media or even don’t care that much about it. It’s not an excuse. Both your competitors and your customers do. That’s where a lot of attention is, and you want to be there. If you don’t know how to get on Social Media, ask one of your staff to set up Accounts for you. You can start posting and commenting on local events and putting up details and photos about what you’re doing. If you don’t know how to promote yourself on Social media, have a look at this video.
If you don’t know how to set up a Facebook business page click on Youtube.
You can also set up a Free account on Hootsuite and load up to 30 posts free of charge. Again if you don’t know how to use Hootsuite, look at this video on Youtube.
You can always ask a local graphic designer to come up with some designs for you. Maybe paying in beer and food would be a cheaper option! You can also use Canva to design some posts.
Watch this video to show you how.
2) Get Some Offers in place for food and drink – Advertise Your Pub
If you sell food then work out some offers for the Euros. You should have one for match days and one running all the way through the competition. If your country is playing that day, you are probably going to be busy. So a limited menu with food that you can get out quickly is going to be better. You want food to come out quick, so you don’t have ques and people going elsewhere to get food.
Items like chicken in a basket, burgers, or a portion of fast food are excellent with a pint.
Come up with some ideas to pair food with drinks on match days like Pizza and Peroni, or Cheese Burger and Budweiser.
People are generally going to want to have a good drink and watch the football, not be sitting down so these can increase your turnover.
3) Sell a Table & Drinks Package- Marketing Ideas for a Pub
If you have room for a seated area, sell tables for the matches. This is great if you have two bars or a back room with a big screen. Sell each table with an ice bucket and bottles.
You can have different prices, so front tables (for 4) would be sold for more money and include, say, four food items and 16 bottles of beer. The tables further back could be cheaper and be sold with eight bottles. With a bucket of ice and the beers in the buckets, you will have some money in before the day has started.
4) Get The Music Going- Pub Marketing
On match days, you don’t ant everyone leaving after the final whistle. One way to keep everyone there is to hire a local DJ for the night. Depending on your audience, you could have chart music or Summer Vibes to keep everyone in a good mood and stay till closing time. If you don’t want to invest in a local DJ, as long as you have some decent speakers and music playing, it will keep the crowd there. Why would they want to leave if the atmosphere is good?
5) Get some flags up outside – Advertise Your Pub
Teardrop flags are relatively cheap and get your pub noticed. Put some up outside in bright colours. One of our Marketing Ideas for a Pub would be advertising the football, food or the Euros. If placed outside your pub they will grab peoples attention. Have a look at the various sizes we have on offer, as well as different bases.
6) Outdoor Roller Banners – Advertise Your Pub
These are a great way of showing a menu and your matches. Our outdoor roller banners can be either near the entrance or in your garden. They will let everyone know when the other games are on or display your menu if you serve food. They are waterproof and although made for outdoor advertising can also be used indoors.
7) Advertising Banners – Marketing Ideas for a Pub
Relatively cheap and with bright clear messages advertising banners can be put up outside to let traffic know you’re showing the Euros in your pub. If you have any specials like we detailed above, its a great way to let people know. Advertising banners are a cost-effective to market your pub in 2021. With costs starting from as little as £35.00.
The vinyl banners can either be hung to a railing or a wall. Or like the example below onto an outdoor heavy-duty frame.
8) Scratch Cards – Marketing Ideas for a Pub
Scratch cards are a popular Marketing Idea for a Pub. You can have some winners and give away drinks or food. If you’re selling them, you need a licence, but as a giveaway, then they are a great way of getting people involved. You can even give them away with winners using them on the next match day. This will encourage people to come back again. The scratch cards are not expensive, and you can get 1000 cards for only £110! Have a look here.
9) Posters
Advertise your matches and promotions throughout your pub with some printed posters. A1 sizes inside your pub are perfect. A2 posters are slightly smaller but also work well.
Outside why not have some waterproof printed boards? They are weatherproof and really grab attention, and another standard marketing idea for your pub.
10) Printed Beer Mats
Five hundred will cost £249, but prices start from £80 for 50. You can promote your match days on them and have your logo on the mats. If you choose the double-sided beer mats, you can sell the back as an advert for a local company too. Have a look at some costs on our beer mat page.
11) Loyalty Cards – Advertise Your Pub
Making loyalty cards with a rubber stamp for food on match days can bring some repeat business too. For example, have six plates of food during the Euros and get a Free burger and chips. Advertising a Pub with special offers like this really gets peoples attention. It’s also another way for you to get the name of your pub about.
